Manny Fernandez
MANNY FERNANDEZ CURRENTLY PLAYS FOR THE BOSTON BRUINS. Emmanuel Fernandez-Lemaire was born on August 27, 1974 in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. He began playing hockey at the age of two in Montreal, Quebec. His first job growing up was working construction. He loved watching Pelle Lindberg play while growing up and his favorite team was the Montreal Canadiens. Manny Fernandez was drafted into the NHL in 1992 as the Quebec Nordiques’ 3rd round choice. Before seeing NHL action, Fernandez spent some time in the QMJHL. He also played in the IHL from 1994 to 1999. He was named the QMJHL’s MVP after posting a 29-14-1 record in the net in the 1993-94 season. In the 1994-95 season, Fernandez saw his first NHL action with the Dallas Stars. Since his debut, Manny Fernandez has played goalie for the Dallas Stars and the Minnesota Wild. Fernandez’s best season with the Dallas Stars was the 1999-00 season, where he net-minded in 24 games and went 11-8-3. As soon as the Minnesota Wild acquired Manny Fernandez via a trade with Dallas, he began appearing in more games. He is the Minnesota Wild’s all-time leader in wins by a goaltender with 91. He is one of the three players left from the Minnesota Wild’s Inaugural Team roster along with Wes Walz and Marian Gaborik. In his career, Manny Fernandez has minded net in 249 career NHL games over 10 seasons with both Dallas and Minnesota. His career record is 103-97-31 with a career 2.46 GAA. His best season with the Wild was the 2005-06 season when he appeared in 58 games and posted a 30-18-7 record with a 2.29 GAA. Fernandez lives in Montreal with his wife Karine, son Mattyas and daughter Leanne. His most memorable hockey achievement was beating the Colorado Avalanche in the First Round of the 2003 NHL Playoffs. He loves to wakeboard and spend time at the lake in the off-season. His favorite part of playing hockey is the team camaraderie.
